SpinChat is a transformative public speaking program designed to engage and educate Victoria’s youth on the critical issue of spinal cord injury prevention and risk-taking behaviour. SpinChat speakers are wheelchair users themselves following serious injuries, and through compelling presentations, SpinChat, which is aligned to the school’s curriculum, brings awareness directly into Victorian secondary schools, highlighting the risks and consequences associated with everyday activities.
Our presenters have overcome some of life’s toughest challenges, sharing their stories and lived experiences through engaging and powerful presentations that inspire students to make safer, more informed choices.
Beyond prevention, SpinChat also explores the barriers to success that people living with disability often face. We shine a light on the importance of access and inclusion, encouraging students to think critically about environmental and attitudinal barriers that can limit people from reaching their full potential. These conversations help foster empathy, understanding, and a more inclusive mindset in the next generation.

SpinChat presentations within the Melbourne metro area are priced at $600 per session, invoiced following delivery. Regional areas may incur a travel cost, please reach out to discuss or request a quote.
We understand that every school’s circumstances are different, and we’re always open to having a conversation around pricing to support access where possible.
About Our Presentations
SpinChat presentations are engaging, thought provoking and have a lasting impact with students. Presentations are usually 45 minutes in length and there’s no limit on the number of students that can attend. An invoice will be sent for payment after the presentation has taken place.
Each year, around 400 new cases of spinal cord injury are recorded across Australia; that’s around one case every day. There is currently no cure for spinal cord injury, only prevention. To support the strategy of prevention, every year the SpinChat school speakers return to Victorian secondary schools with their message of risk minimisation.
