SpinChat is an initiative of Independence Australia to raise awareness, promote prevention and educate secondary school students about spinal cord injury.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Independence Australia supports people living with a disability or other physical need to regain, retain and extend their independence. They believe everyone should have the opportunity to fully participate in life and the community, regardless of ability.
In many cases people with significant disabilities can be amongst the most disadvantaged within our community and face major difficulties undertaking everyday life activities. To support people through these daily challenges, Independence Australia’s major services include in-home support, housing, veteran’s home care, respite, case management, outreach support, psychology and counselling, recreation and peer support groups.
In addition to generous support from the community, income from Independence Australia’s social enterprises is channelled back to support our core charitable purpose and help fund these vital services.
Independence Australia’s social enterprise initiatives include distributing personal health and wellbeing products, mobility aids and equipment to thousands of customers across Australia.
